All grades celebrated Sinterklaas on Friday with hot chocolate and cookies, they bought gifts for each other and made some lovely poems about their classmates!
Did you know…
- The traditional Sinterklaas treats are pepernoten, chocolate letters and marzipan
- Children (and grown-ups) can put their shoe next to the chimney and at night the Sint rides across the rooftops on his white horse Ozosnel, with his helpers who are called Piets!
- Sint’s birthday is actually on December 6th but the Dutch celebrate it on the evening of December 5th with real presents, chocolate milk, treats and fake presents called ‘supprises” and lots of self made personal poems
